Dr. Simpson received bachelor’s degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Ohio Northern University in 2018 and his doctorate in Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering from Ohio State University in 2022. His dissertation focused on refining urban stormwater pollution characterization and prediction to better design, locate, and maintain stormwater control measures. Upon receiving his PhD, Dr. Simpson joined the Tennessee Water Resources Research Center (TNWRRC) at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Simpson serves as a Research Assistant Professor in TNWRRC, which is housed in the Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment. His ambitions involve researching stormwater quality and hydrology (S1); stream connectivity, transport processes, and restoration (S2); and the most sustainable ways to manage stormwater and streams (S3). Collectively, these are the 3S’s – the pillars of the Simpson Research Group. |
